The days are getting shorter and the nights colder, and it’s making me think about my next AW purchase, its also one of the reasons why I love fashion this time of year. The winter coat. Get this purchase right, and it’s a true investment piece that can take you to your desk through those rainy days through to the dance floor for the party season.
Below are my favourite coats at House of Fraser, with some added styling hints and tips.
There are a few key trends for outerwear; we saw a lot of oversized pieces at AW16 LFW, anything big, bold and beautiful went basically. Shearling sees a nod to the 70’s vibes, military style is still as popular as ever and the old faithful Mac played a big part in the Burberry and Prada catwalks. There are muted pinks through to statement coloured furs and there are shapes to suit everyone.
So where to begin; I have picked 4 of my favourite coats (picking 4 was a really hard job by the way) that will be sure to tick off some of those key trends and keep you stylishly wrapped this winter! Sorry if it makes you find yourself wishing for extreme cold just so you can buy all of these!
This Biba coat incorporates two key looks for me; Military and long-line. With its large collar details and gorgeous double gold buttons, it really is military chic.
Ensured to keep you warm and cosy with its wool mix fabric, and length wise this season, the longer the better and this is a very cool length for this trend. Layer it over wide leg tailoring and a cashmere sweater for a cool sophisticated look.
Shearling has had a make over this year. Fluffy shearling coats promise to be big this season. Nail the 70s trend with this Andrew Marc coat lined with luxurious faux fur, it will feel super cosy. With an exaggerated shawl neckline, throw this coat on with skinny jeans and a simple jumper to make you feel instantly dressed up.
Winter coastal walks is also a trend this season. This cool khaki jacket is perfect for this or for me, on a more regular basis, those cold dog walking mornings and evenings.
Key details are luxury thick fur trims, oversized shape yet with the drawstring waist cord it means you create a lovely silhouette.
Wear with your wellies and wrap up warm- Get on those gorgeous winter coastal walks! It know its my fave thing to do.
This pretty coat fits perfectly into the winter wonderland trend, which is all about muted pinks, whites and creams with luxurious fabrics creating soft overall looks. This feminine textured pale mink coat provides a subtle but elegant look and I highly recommend dressing up with your party LBD this Christmas.
As I said, picking 4 was really difficult so I have actually picked 6… Surprise!! The other two are my statement coats, the #thevery coats! One is a abstract 60s style graphic leopard print faux fur the other is a classic belted coat in a fabulous berry colour. Both Biba, obviously. They sound incredible don’t they?! Here, take a look…..
The Biba Leopard faux fur coat can be paired with black denim jeans and a basic top or jumper with boots or trainers for an ideal casual look.
The Biba faux fur collar coat has a detachable collar and looks great with or without. It is a very classic cut and the belted waist looks great on any figure. This one would be perfect for a lovely dinner date over those party separate pieces.
So, there are my fave coats from House of Fraser this season. I have tried to showcase how these can represent some of the amazing outerwear trends this season, so hopefully there is something to inspire my lovely readers!
I have been working on more Christmas styling content for work today… I cant wait to share with you the key party looks. I hope whatever you have done today, it has been the #thevery xx
