Whatever you want to call it, you can’t get away from it. The whole new year is always filled with how to get fit, and this season has been bigger than ever.
How to improve your lifestyle, diet and fitness routines is everywhere and what’s been big on everyone’s lips more recently than ever is how to look good doing it! It’s literally the fastest growing clothing category last year and this year.
Now, it’s damn time House of Fraser launched its own active wear concept and I’ve been so lucky to be involved with this launch. With a really exciting brand mix and 2 in house designed brands exclusive to HOF it’s one of the biggest concepts we’ve launched in years!
I’ve been working with the buying teams to set up the launch day where our store teams come and find out all about the brands, product knowledge and how to style active wear. Let’s face it, it’s not as simple as just throwing on those pair of leggings and scruffy tee’s anymore. It’s about how we can actually take our gym gear to Street wear.
‘People are not only wearing active to and from the gym, they are working out, going out, and hanging out in active clothing’
So, House of Fraser had a soft launch in January where we introduced brands such as Ted Baker, Seafolly, Calvin Klein and Bjorn Borg. However, from 27th March You’ll be able to shop all these brands plus more… Mink Pink, Acai, Dhama Bums, Tommy Hilfiger and accessories from Yoga Mad. ALSO, the two I’m most excited about; Label lab life and oh my god…. BIBA BODY!! anyone who knows me or follows me, knows my love for biba and how much this is a big tick for me!
Label Lab Life is a casual, edgy, a street influenced brand that provides technical elements.
Biba Body is all about dressing with attitude. It is Luxe, flamboyant and iconic.
So between these brands and all the others, we can cater for:
The Runner– for the girl who looks fashionable but in functional attire
The gym Bunny– for the girl who also likes to look fashionable but needs all the accessories in the right attire
The Yogi– for the girl who is completely into her Yoga and Pilates and needs clothes that is as flexible as her
The girl with all the gear, no idea– for the girl who looks sporty but doesn’t necessarily want to get sweaty
So, my top tip for styling active wear… Layering is the perfect way to get to the most out of your gym outfit. Active staples in my wardrobe are- performance leggings, sports bra and a layering top. I sometimes layer a vest top under another longer sleeved top, depending on the weather and activity type. I also have some great outerwear sport hoody type jumpers and jackets.
Overall, House of Fraser offers high performance active wear to comfy loungewear.
So, back to the launch day: It consisted of brand introductions from our external brand buying team and the design teams, from Biba body and Label Lab Life. We set up a yoga session with a fantastic talk from yoga mad, and then Ted Baker, Bjorn Borg and Acai. They went through there brand ethos and styling elements. The day was finished with styling hints and tips and our cool goody bags were given out.
